Scary Movie 4 is a horror/comedy genre film.
the film is a parody of many horror films and comedy films. an example of this is SAW,
The grudge and War of the Worlds. there are many more parodies in the movies. in the beginning of the trailer there is a voice over refers to certain films, for example when it says no village is safe, the screen changes to a small parody of the film (The village).
The trailer is different from a traditional horror trailer. For example the when the trailer starts and a box open to reveal a giant tripod. that doesn't seem scary unless somebody has a fear for iPod based technology. Through ought the trailer there is a lot of light. this is strange for a horror poster as the normal convention for a horror poster is that there is little light and most of the trailer is dark. The reason for darkness in horror trailers is that it adds an uncertain element, in this trailer the audiance doesn't feel uncertainty.
